Permit Procedures

Pole Barn & Building Permit Procedures

Before you start the plans for your building project, you should call your local building department or better yet, visit them to receive the correct information regarding your building.

The following items should be addressed:

  1. Your ground snow load for your building site (LBS)
  2. Your Wind Shear for your building site (MPH )
  3. Your Exposure to the wind (A,B,C,etc)
  4. Seismic Zone (2b, 3,D1, etc)
  5. Set back requirement from your property lines
  6. Location of your septic system if you are not on a city sewer system
  7. Location of the driveway to your new building will need to be determined before you can apply for a permit. (Note: if your not using and existing driveway you will have to have your new one engineered)
